Korean good: new TERA screens bring the pretty, beta announced

The Exiled Realm of Arborea  or less stupidly, TERA, is a Korean action MMORPG that is set to launch in North America and Europe some time next year. The devs have criticised what they call ‘dice roll’ combat systems, and pushed their idea of action RPG gaming, which seems to consist mostly of having to aim in order to connect with attacks.

The fact the interface is also designed to be compatible with not just keyboard and mouse but also console controllers should cause hackles to rise among the WoW faithful, although I will reserve opinion until I see working code. For an in-depth preview, take a gander at the lovely folk of Gamepro.

Publisher Frogster have announced the game’s alpha and beta testing phases will be opened in late 2011 and early 2012 respectively. This is a significant delay for the game, initially scheduled for this year, and already available for Korean players. Frogster CMO Daniel Ullrich explains:

“By launching TERA in Spring 2012 we ensure that the game will not only live up to expectations, but surpass them. We’ll be unveiling various features at Gamescom and rest assured these are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what players can expect when TERA is released early next year”.

Still, one thing is already apparent. This game is seriously good-looking, at least in the press-baiting shots released so far. Feast your peepers below.
